About the Practice
A Sheung Wan desk built for quiet risk conversations — not market theatre.
Why the desk exists
Portfolios rarely fail for lack of opinions. They stall when concentration, liquidity, and exit rules live in separate notebooks — or only in one person’s head. APIs Integrations opened a desktop risk review station so those three threads can be examined in one sitting, on paper, with time to argue the hard lines.
Origin
The practice grew out of repeated afternoons in Sheung Wan offices where advisers and principals needed a neutral table: enough structure to finish a concentration map, enough calm to write liquidity notes someone else could follow. We kept the format small — one desk, appointment-only — rather than widening into general investment advice.
How we work
- In person first. Screens share statements; decisions still get written on the worksheet.
- Vocabulary of the book. Soft limits, hard limits, cash buffers, thesis breaks — words you can reuse with your broker or family office.
- Hong Kong context. Settlement habits, holiday calendars, and local market hours shape how exit ladders are timed.
- Finite engagements. Each sitting has a close. Ongoing monitoring is not the product; clarity from the session is.
Values at the table
Honesty about what we did not cover. Refusal to dress uncertainty as precision. Respect for the client who already knows the book well and still wants a second pair of eyes on the piles.
People
Sessions are led by practitioners who have spent years beside concentrated books — family capital, advisory mandates, and personal portfolios that needed clearer marks. We introduce the reviewer by name when you book so you know who will sit across the desk.
Location
118 Connaught Road West, Sheung Wan, Hong Kong — a short walk from the harbour side of the district, chosen for quiet meeting rooms rather than a trading-floor atmosphere.
